Meet Roberta.

Roberta has lived in Thornton for over 35 years, where she attended public schools and graduated from Skyview High School. She has lived in Ward One and currently in Ward Two for more than 19 years. Being a Thornton resident as a child and an adult gives her in-depth knowledge and purpose to do what is best for building a strong community.

For more than 20 years, Roberta has worked in education for both adults and children at all ability levels and represented workers in organized labor. As a working mother, she developed a deep understanding of the struggles working families and young adults face. Roberta is active in her community and currently serves as President of The Thornton Arts, Sciences, and Humanities Council (TASHCO) where she worked to create positive cultural experiences for our community.

Roberta's recent joining of the Adams County Cultural Council is an exciting development for her work in building community through cultural experiences. By being a member of this council, she will have access to a wealth of knowledge and resources that will help her to better understand the cultural landscape of the county and the needs and interests of its residents. Through her involvement with the council, Roberta will have the opportunity to collaborate with other community leaders and cultural organizations to develop and implement initiatives that celebrate the diversity and richness of the local culture. This will enable her to create truly impactful cultural experiences that brings people together and strengthens the community as a whole.

Additionally Roberta Ayala became an integral part of the Historical Preservation Advisory Group for the city of Thornton through her profound passion for preserving the city's heritage. With her extensive background in Thornton’s history and community engagement, she contributes valuable insights that guide the group's efforts in safeguarding Thornton's rich historical landmarks and cultural treasures.

Roberta's commitment to community safety and engagement is noteworthy. By completing the Citizens Police Academy and becoming a member of the Thornton Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, she has gained valuable insights into the workings of the police department and its role in serving and protecting the community. Through this experience, Roberta has gained a greater appreciation for the importance of effective law enforcement in promoting public safety and fostering trust between law enforcement and the community. Her dedication to learning about the police department's operations and fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the community will ensure that we make the most effective use of this resource for our community.

Roberta currently lives in Thornton’s Woodglen neighborhood with her husband, two teenage sons, two dogs, and her cat. She enjoys the arts, film, our parks, and volunteering alongside the people of our community for the benefit of everyone.
